The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors (CSME) announced the 2010 Editors' Choice Award winners today.

This Magazine, Cottage Life, Canadian Geographic, and Design Edge took home the titles of Magazine of the Year, in the small-, medium-, and large-circulation, and trade magazine categories. Cottage Life also won the award for Best Web Site and editor Penny Caldwell was recognized as the Editor of the Year by her peers.
“It's a great honour,” said Caldwell, who gave credit to her editorial team for their collective effort.
Design Edge was a double-winner, also earning the Best Front of the Book title. Rounding out the awards portion of the gala evening, held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, as part of the MagNet conference, Homemakers editor Kathy Ullyott accepted the Jim Cormier Award for Best Display Writing.
Guest speaker, Maclean's magazine contributor Sally Armstrong, recounted an inspirational career that spans from the editor-in-chief's desk at Homemakers, to working as a journalist, documentary filmmaker and human rights activist in conflict zones around the world.

Enjoy a dinner with your peers, celebrate editorial excellence with the 2010 Editors' Choice Award winners and take in a captivating talk from the evening’s guest speaker, editor extraordinaire Sally Armstrong.

Human rights activist, documentary filmmaker, teacher, editor and award-winning author, Armstrong has covered stories in conflict zones all over the world. From Bosnia and Somalia to Rwanda and Afghanistan, her eyewitness reports have earned her several awards, including a Gold Award from the National Magazine Awards Foundation. Armstrong was editor-in-chief of Homemaker's magazine from 1988 to 1999. Presently, she is a contributing editor at Maclean’s magazine.

Make sure you come early to mingle with colleagues, enjoy a cocktail on CSME and hear the sweet bossa nova sounds of the Aline Morales Band.

The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors has announced the winners of the 2007 Editors’ Choice Awards. The awards ceremony took place on June 13th at a gala dinner in downtown Toronto.

Canadian Gardening, The Hockey News, and Spacing took home the title of Magazine of the Year at this year’s Editor’s Choice Awards in the categories of large-, medium-, and small-circulation, respectively. In a new category for trade magazines, the award went to Far North Oil and Gas. Best display writing went to Profit while best front of book went to Maisonneuve.
